FY21 IDEAS Grant: Develop Your Program with The Asia Institute

Is your institution seeking to increase its education abroad programming in Asia? The Asia Institute welcomes the opportunity to speak with you about support for your IDEAS grant application.

The application period for the FY21 IDEAS Grant Program is currently open to institutions seeking to increase education abroad opportunities for their students. The IDEAS grant program is a U.S. Department of State initiative, which awards funding to create, expand, and/or diversify study abroad programs. Applications for FY21 are due by February 26, 2021.

In total, the FY21 IDEAS grant program is expected to award up to 24 grants, so it is important to submit your proposal early. For each submission period, a maximum funding level of $35,000 will be provided, with the upcoming grant period running from June 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022. Successful applications must demonstrate a strong and sustainable plan for creating, expanding, and/or diversifying U.S. study abroad at the institution, leading to increasing the number of U.S. students who study abroad in the near term. This, in particular, is an area The Asia Institute has excelled at, so let us know your program ideas and thoughts. For full details, you can review the Request for Proposal Issuance Document.

For example, The Asia Institute can help your institution design and execute faculty-led programs, further develop relationships with universities in Asia, and/or develop virtual exchange models and programs that complement in-person exchange and campus internationalization goals.

Over the past 10+ years, The Asia Institute has established unique regional expertise, having hosted faculty-led short-term programs in 14 countries and 48 cities across east, Southeast and South Asia with over 5000 participants. To learn more, please visit our website on Education Abroad support.
