The Asia Institute - Education Abroad

Each quarter, The Asia Institute sends out a newsletter to education abroad professionals, highlighting recent happenings in study abroad and global short-term faculty-led programming. A recurring feature in the newsletter is an “In the News” section, which aggregates news media articles that shine a light on the current happenings in education abroad. From April to June, media coverage covered the changing realities of study abroad programming for 2020 as Covid-19 has grounded thousands of students’ plans to study outside their home countries. As a result, colleges and universities have re-imaged the study abroad experience in the short-term with virtual programming. Moving forward, there is cautious optimism among education abroad practitioners that international travel restrictions will loosen in the Fall and regularly scheduled programming may resume in the coming months.
