The Asia Institute to Present at The AAC&U Conference on Global Learning

On October 8th, The Asia Institute will participate in a panel titled Multi-Dimensional COIL Models: Gaining Global Reach with Project-Based Learning at the AAC&U Conference on Global Learning. The Asia Institute’s Chairman/CEO Bradley A. Feuling will present new models for collaborative online international learning (COIL) related to the UN Sustainable Development goals, community-based projects, and local engagement in multiple countries.

This summer, The Asia Institute co-led an eight-week project-based (PBL) internship program in which nearly 60 students split into six groups representing projects that address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia. In addition to company-assigned project work, the students enjoyed regular weekly contact with company hosts and academic mentors and participated in cross-cultural collaboration and reflection sessions. Overview of the 2021 Conference

Held virtually from October 7-9, 2021, the AAC&U Conference on Global Learning will examine practical and theoretical approaches to reimagine global learning at the course, departmental, and institutional levels. The conference provides opportunities to explore tactics and strategies for making global learning more equitable and inclusive and for ensuring it aligns with student and societal needs. The 2021 Conference on Global Learning will provide a space for critical reflection on past practices and an opportunity to explore the emergence of new and innovative approaches to global learning that are more accessible and inclusive, that are rooted in ethical relationships, and that situates the global within both local and international settings.
