On December 15th, The Asia Institute and students from the Fall 2020 cohort of the Academic Continuity Program (ACP) gathered for a special networking event to celebrate the conclusion of the semester. Students from Miami University and Lehigh University participated in a year-end celebration, which included dinner, networking and special presentation from Suzhou-based learning expert Mohammad Zawid Naseem, a Lehigh (’13) and Miami (’20) alum.
Over 75 students participated in the first cohort of the Academic Continuity Program at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou. This program is designed as a turn-key academic host campus for international students who are unable to fulfill their academic requirements on their home campuses. In the Spring 2021 semester, The Asia Institute will host over 100 students who enrolled in the Academic Continuity Program.
During the semester, The Asia Institute’s onsite support team guides students through enrollment and registration processes while providing 24/7 onsite support. This including regular check-ins, mobile connectivity, and emergency response resources as well as organizing alumni engagement receptions.
XJTLU is the largest international joint-university in China, with over 12,000 students, and roughly 100 courses taught in English. All classes are delivered by XJTLU’s internationally diverse faculty, with housing accommodations adjacent to the university provided. The campus is located in Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District, seven miles east of the historic center of Suzhou, and roughly 50 miles west of Shanghai.
